COURSE DESCRIPTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nRestitution 1 \u2013 Intro to Restitution Self Discipline<\/strong>
(no pre-requisite)
Restitution is a philosophy created by Diane Gossen, based on the work of William Glasser\u2019s Control Theory and the principles of Indigenous Restorative Justice. It provides those working with children hands-on skills to deal with difficult behaviour. Instead of rewards and punishment, Restitution focuses on helping students become the person they want to be. Drawing from current research on the brain functioning, Restitution recognizes that for true learning to occur, the process that children must engage in is an internal one. Restitution teaches youth self-discipline and skills needed to promote independence, critical thinking, and acceptance of personal responsibility for one\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Restitution for Parents<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nCaught in the cycle of ever-increasing punishments to motivate your children? Tired of bribing your children to behave? Want your children to be self-motivated? Learn why children behave, how to set them up for success, & learn concrete tools for tough situations. Learn to encourage children to take responsibility for their actions & be self-disciplined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restitution 2 \u2013 Implementing Restitution<\/strong>
(pre-requisite: Restitution 1)
This workshop is for participants who are currently experimenting with ideas of Restitution in their personal lives and at the classroom level. This course is designed to assist teachers and administrators to assess their current practices in their schools and ask themselves, \u201cIs what we are doing now getting us what we want?\u201d This course will outline the ways in which Restitution can impact on the system by using school beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Creating the Conditions<\/strong>
(pre-requisite: Restitution 1)
Effective change management is a complex process for any organization and a definite challenge for leaders. Creating the Conditions is a course that is based upon a research-based method to facilitate effective and sustainable change in an organization. It takes a human-centric view which understands that people go through various stages of concern when change is present. This course is recommended for district and school-based administrators, team leaders, Restitution facilitators, or other key people involved with your initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Control Theory 1<\/strong>
(no pre-requisite)<\/p>\n\n\n\nRestitution is based on the principles of Control Theory. This course is a must for those who want to deepen their understanding of Restitution. Control Theory 1 is intended to be an introductory class for those with little or no exposure to Control Theory. Learn how to tap into intrinsic motivation, which is a key component in creating 21st century thinkers. Learn practical strategies to use in your personal and professional life.

(pre-requisite: Restitution 1)<\/p>\n\n\n\nThis course is designed for individuals already familiar with Restitution principles who are ready to put their knowledge into action. Through hands-on, experiential learning, participants will strengthen their skills in applying Restitution tools in real-life situations. The course also explores the science of habit formation, helping participants develop effective, lasting habits that support a restorative and relationship-based approach to discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
